Stephen B. Whatley has made drawings from the earliest moments in his life; and owns a drawing book labelled in ink by his father ‘Stephen, aged 4’. His drawings, from life and photographs – predominantly in charcoal and pastel – are created with the same degree of passion and feeling as his oil paintings – and he is prolific. The artist always takes a drawing book with him when travelling which he fills with spontaneous graphite drawings made on location, impressions that often inspire new drawings in charcoal or pastel and oil paintings – and he is prolific.

In this section you will find a selection of drawings of a variety of subjects. Some of the drawings are sold and some are available for purchase – full details in the captions above each image. To enquire about purchases or commissioning drawings from life or photographs, please contact the artist.
