The
Tower of London Commission
In
2000, Stephen B Whatley was commissioned by Historic Royal Palaces and the Pool
of London Partnership, to make 30 paintings to celebrate and promote HM Tower
of London and the Pool of London. Many of these works were painted on location
at the Tower and within the environment of the Pool of London; while others
were inspired by various historical images.
In
April 2001, this series of paintings were reproduced on steel vitreous enamel
panels that line the walls of the Tower Hill pedestrian underpass - forming
a permanent display of Stephen's work.
