Tower of London Commission
In 2000, Stephen was commissioned by Historic Royal Palaces to undertake a series of 30 paintings to celebrate and promote HM Tower of London and the Pool of London. Many of the works were painted on location at the Tower and within the environment of the Pool of London, whilst others were inspired by various historical images. In 2001, this series of paintings have been reproduced on steel vitreous enamel panels that line the walls of the Tower Hill pedestrian underpass - forming a permanent display of Stephen's work.
In this gallery you can view a selection of the works, together with views of the complete pedestrian underpass. If you are visiting London, take the tube to Tower Hill underground station and follow the signs to the Tower, this will take you through the underpass where you can view all 30 works.
